Tip #2 – Be Intelligent
hen I hear the word intelligence the first thing that come to mind is an IQ test (intelligence quotient test). Which measures the amount of “book smarts” you have or if you can rattle off some math equation or scientific concept.
It has it’s place in the world but how would an IQ test help make your studio better? Or why would some “book smarts” make a difference in your studio? Well, it really doesn’t. But don’t take it the wrong way. I am a firm believer in learning. And I think that learning any subject can make you a better person and in turn a better teacher. Though, just not directly. What I am saying is that your intelligence today doesn’t have to stay where it is at. You can become more intelligent.
Would you like to know how to become more of an intellect? Gain greater power over your mind and take control of your reality …and the world? Oh, wait. Maybe not that much. 😉
Martin L. King, Jr.
“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”
Stephen Hawking
“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.”
Acting intelligent isn’t complicated
Becoming more intelligent with your studio is really rather simple. All you need to do is be purposeful with your decisions. Have a rational reason why you chose a particular decision. Which requires you to think about and weigh different options. That’s all you need to do at first. Think about a choice before you act. It really can make a BIG difference and you save yourself from so many potential headaches.
Go Get a Friend
If at first you’re having a hard time or need some external input grab some coffee with a fellow music comrade and bounce some ideas around about business. It needs to be a friend that you trust and who has similar motivations/beliefs about life and business. It is hard to find but they do exist. It also works to throw around some ideas with your spouse or a good friend(who is not in music). Sometimes just saying something outloud can help bring clarity to an idea or helps you find a solution. So grab a friend and get smarter! 🙂
You should be warned.
There is a something that come out of being purposeful with your studio. . . and that is change. That nasty, evil word that affects everything. If you are purposeful with your studio, things will change. It’s only natural. Things that are alive change, things that are dead don’t. So be alive and accept change. But don’t just change for the sake changing. Think about what you would like to have accomplished and move toward that end goal. Think about your ideal client, your perfect day, your utopian lifestyle and begin walking in that direction.
To go somewhere with your business you have to plan and be purposeful with your goals. That is being intelligent.
Now it’s your turn. Where do you what your studio to go? Do you have a vision of what you what the future to look like? I hope to hear from you. 🙂
Thanks and take care,
John
